everyone here seems to think riley is purely masculine
but its risen in such popularity this past year for girls.Sooo just looked at the new top 100 baby names for 2010 and Riley is number 15 for girls?
I still see Riley as a more boy masculine name and if I ever used it. It would defiantly be on a son. Addison is another name that I personnel don’t find very girlish despite that it made the top 100. Madison made the list and I know that use to be a boy name and is seen as a unisex name today. Some people don’t look at it as a girl name. I see more of a girl name now then a boys. I guess it just depends.
Hmm, I like Riley for either gender, in fact, it's a middle name on my girls' list, and a first name on my boys' list, though for a girl I tend to spell it Rylie or Reilly. I think it makes a good name either way, and so I have no problems with it being popular. People could do so much worse, name-wise, you know?Sooo just looked at the new top 100 baby names for 2010 and Riley is number 15 for girls?
No accounting for taste. "Mackenzie" and all kinds of "-son" names are popular for girls, too, and those are by definition male names (all meaning "son of ___").
And then there's Peyton as a girl's name. Am I the only one who associates that name with Peyton Manning?
I personally don't like Riley for a girls name but lots of people do. Just personal preference I suppose. I like Addison better for a boys name and it was in the top ten for girls. It just all depends on what people like.Sooo just looked at the new top 100 baby names for 2010 and Riley is number 15 for girls?
My friend lost her little boy at twenty-four week, she named him Riley James. She then got pregnant again a few months later and just had her little girl. She used Riley as her middle name in honor of her brother.
What country are those for? Not everyone here is from the same country so for example, I hate the name Riley on both genders but it also isn't popular here.
Just because Riley is number fifteen on the 100 top names for girls this year doesn't make the name any more feminine.
Horrid and masculine for a girl, no matter how many ignorant parents slap it on their feminine, daughters.
The fact is nobody gives enough of a **** to care.
Honestly, it is so popular that now I'm more likely to think of Riley as a girl than a boy.
I like it I think it is cute and it is not a masculine name
I thought about naming my daughter Riley....did you notice its also in the top 100 for males also?
