Girls:



1. Calypso - its greek for conceal. I heard it on pirates of the caribbean and thought it was a very "intense" name, for lack of a better word, and completely loved it.



2. Saphira - i always loved the way Sapphire sounded but couldbt bring myself to use it as a name so when i came across this name I immediately loved it. I think it sounds classic and beautiful. I pronounce it suh-fear-uh



3. Avangelina - this has to be the most normal name on my list. I think its pretty and classic, like Saphira, but had a certain feel to it that i find powerful. Its normally spelled with an "e" at the beginning but i like the nn Ava better than Eva.



4. Galilea - I like "g" names for some reason. I like this name in particular for other reasons. Apart from it sounding powerful to me, it has two things its derived from that i felt were important. First and foremost, Galilee, its a religious place (i wont get into it) so i felt that was important, abd Galileo, the philosopher. He in particulat is not really important to me but he represents intelligence and i like that.



5. Allegra - This one also has been derived from more than one thing. Allegra means happiness and it is a feminine version of a musical term (music is very important to me). This name also sounds powerful to me. Out of all of them, thus one sounds the MOST powerful to me.





Boys:



1) Ambrose - a lot of people think this name is girly but i got a very different reaction to it. It makes me think of an almost mysterious guy who keeps to himself but is very noble and chivalrous. Very respectful and knows how to treat people. "silently strong" comes to mind when i think of this name. A real man.



2) Caspian - yes i know, narnia. I dont care though, there are lots of names in all kinds of movies so there shouldnt be a difference. First time i heard it was watching narnia but i didnt start loving it ad a name until history class and reading about the Caspian Sea. Another one of those names, like Ambrose, that makes me think of a mentally and physically healthy guy with a level head and a noble heart.



3) Gideon - its hebrew for warrior. Definately a strong name which important for a boy. The only difference with this name and the first two for me is i imagine him to be a little hot headed and

"over-warrior-like". Ha. Not really mysterious like Ambrose or gentle like Caspian. Caring but not very sensitive (not on purpose, he's just built that way)



4) Phoenix - my favorite mythical creature! I'm a nerd sometimes like that. I've always had a fascination and enamorment of the phoenix, nothing else, just the phoenix. I love fire, and a fire-bird is just friggin cool. I at first liked the name for a girl but the more i thought about it, it just sounded like a pornstar name so i switched it over to a boy name. Its a strong name in my eyes, but i fear it may be becoming a little too popular, and un-risky for my taste.



5) Raphael - The Archangel! Hes the angel of healing! Not only that but i like it because it seems to be the only archangel name no one sems to use! Sure there are Gabes and Mikes out there, BUT WHAT ABOUT RAFFS?! I like the way it sounds, the way it feels and i'm sure nobody will remember the ninja turtles by the time hes grown, except middle age people. Another one i like thats kind of in a tie with Raphael is Rafferty. Same nickname, more modern, just as uniqye and risky. These are softer guys names, not as tough as Gideon or even Ambrose in my eyes, but they are still awesome names.



My favorite names are kinda "risky" to actually name a child and i think thats why i like them because i know nobody else would have the gumption to name their child these names because they are too unusual to them and very different. I on the other hand would definately name my child these names.What are your top five baby names for boys and girls?
