SSA's Top Baby Names 2008 are out!?

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/cgi-bin/po鈥?/a>

Where is your baby on the list? My son's name, Braden, is #51. Everyone told me it was going to be higher because it was so trendy this year, but guess not. Our second choice was Matthew and it was much higher!|||My sons are

JoeL number 113 (moving up the charts 10 spaces)

Shane number 174 (moving up the charts 10 spots too)

Reed number 409 (moving up the charts 43 spots, uh-oh getting trendy)

I deliberately wanted names not in the top 100 but also wanted nothing obscure (below 500).

We considered Miles (167), Cash (253), Dean (345), Gage (144), Seth (128), Declan (347), Micah (123), Luca (304) and Atticus (689)

Funny cause my top name back in 2005 for Reed was Cash, my DH said too weird, in 05 it ranked 680, now its much higher than his pick Reed which we went with.

I also wanted easy pronunciation and spelling. It does irk me when people want to spell Reed, Reid but I knew that would happen beforehand

I would say anything in the top 100 is trendy and by the trend of names my son Joel will be in the top 100 soon

Caleb: holding steady at 34

Jana: not in the top 1000 since 2005 (969)

Patrick: declining in popularity 127

Cohen: 356

ALANA's mom-that is my only niece's name (sister's daughter) too funny! Yes, Shane gets Sean alot, especially from older people. and Joel gets Joe, Reed gets, what?|||Shyla fell into 797!

My oldest daughter Gabriella was number 50 in 2006

The funny thing is, we were going to name Shyla, Isabella but decided against it, because of Twilight books, lol, we assumed it would be very popular for awhile.|||My daughter's name is in the top 30, which is what I wanted. Popular enough that it's not "weird," but unpopular enough that there may not be three kids with the same name in her classes growing up (like there were for me--Jennifer).

*MEGHAN,

I don't see the big list, either, but you can search your child's name...

http://www.socialsecurity.gov/OACT/babyn鈥?/a>|||Ugh I feel dumb but I can only get to the page with the top 24. How do I see the bigger list?

Edit: Thanks Jen. I still can't get the links to work, but I searched individually, and looks like Caleb was #34 in '08.

As for our choices for baby #2 (gender unknown til next Monday)... our girl name is in the low 200's, and top boy name is in the low 500's :-)|||My 22 month old is Kamryn; she is 268 on the list. But i don't mind I really wanted it to be something that no one else in her grade/school was likely to have; without it being something rediculous. Had we spelled it the more common Cameron (which I think just looks ugly to see) it would have been 320. I also thnk the traditional spelling is much more male then the way we spelled it.|||Neal is not even on the list! I looked it up and in 2002 it was 963 and that was the last time it even made it. Neal is my husband's name.

Thomas is his middle name (although we call him Neal Thomas because he shares my husband's name) and that was 52. Thomas is my father's first name!

I looked up the alternate spelling for his first name (Neil) and that was 703!|||My son's name is Roman and he is #205. Any higher than that and I'd be nervous... we like the "strange" names... but we always pick something easy to say and spell.

Can't tell you my 2 upcoming names - might spoil the lack of popularity! But they are # 656 and # 710, wahoo! Hehe...|||Alana is 166! I'm glad to know its out! I've been waiting to see where my baby girls name is... Thanks!!!

Mrs B my brothers name is Shane and he loves it but everyone always calls him sean... lol

I love the name Caleb and wanted to name my daughter it if she was a boy but my fiance hated it.|||13 for Natalie's forst name and #21 for her middle Grace|||I saw there was another Camille posted here! My baby girls name is Camille, but we gave her a very unique middle name: Blue. It is my grandmother's middle name. I am fairly certain there aren't that many Camille Blue's out there (although maybe in France?).|||The top baby names for boys are Jacob and for girls is Emma and Emily. I hope this helped!!! Yeah braden is out. im so sorry.|||I knew my daughters name wouldnt be on their, her names Jewellyssa.

- je蠅e鈩撯創褔ss伪's 屑伪屑伪 *;|||My daughter's first name: Kaylee is #31, %26amp; Her middle name: Addison is #12

-That is exactly why we didnt choose addison as her first name :)|||Camille- # 300

Wyatt- #62

But I love the names regardless, and happy that there won't be 3 of each in their classes at school|||Ours is #647 Siena. We didn't want anything crazy but something different. I don't know of anyone with her name. I didn't expect it to be on the list.|||14(Noah). I kind of expected that, though, it seems like it's getting more and more popular! At least he's the only Noah we know personally, still.|||Everyone told me Katelyn was way to popular. Spelled kaitlyn though. They were wrong. It's not even on the top 50. I was playing with that too.|||My daughters name hasn't been in the Top 1000 in 9 years lol

I'm not surprised though. Aisling is a pretty uncommon name :)|||Emma is #3.........I really didn't realize it was so popular. I didn't see Laura there.|||If I spelled her name the common way (Emily) she would have been number 1.|||My little girl's name is #5... which is interesting, b/c I have only ever known of one other person with her name. I guess I need to get out more :)|||My daughter is number 9! :) just spelled a little differant|||Abigail, #8|||Anthony is number 7 :)|||I can't get the link to work, but I'm guessing my kids names aren't on the list-Patrick and Jana.|||My daughters name is Tristen, her name was in 2003 961, it hasn't been in the top 1000 since then.|||My son's name, LUKE... is 43

and

My daughter's name, HALEY... is 101|||Nope, my daughter's name didn't make the list. I didn't expect it too though. Her name is Kaelin and its not that common.|||Abigail # 8

I did not think it was that common anymore! O well!|||We are number 23! Hailey|||Charlotte is #87
